30/30 Sewing Challenge Update 1

What a great week of sewing "for me", for me! It seems that I have been in a bit of a sewing funk for some time now.... since before Thanksgiving. Anyway, I have been trying to get back into sewing but it just wasn't happening. After all, all I really need to do to start sewing again is to Start Sewing Again. As soon as I get into a project, the love comes back and one project leads into another and them I'm off. Each month I have set goals but nothing was done to accomplish those goals. I needed something more....

Last Saturday I found and joined the 30/30 Sewing Challenge. I have to sew for myself for 30 minutes a day. Here's what I did:
  1. Work on my wool/silk blend skirt - I ran out of matching thread. Ugh!
  2. Work on my striped wool jacket - I don't have the right fabric for lining. Ugh!
  3. Look for a project that I can work on and finish in a short amount of time to raise my spirits - hand roll the seams on my striped voile cowl neck top - Finished!!! Ho-ray!
  4. Look around again so I keep the momentum going - rummage through all of my fabric to get inspiration - pick out a very un-assuming scrap of cotton that asked to be useful - draft and sew a cute micro neck scarf. Voila! Almost instant gratification.

I can't wait to read about what everyone else has been doing with their 30 minutes a day.

  1. Great job on 2 finished projects. That's so annoying when you want to sew something and don't have all the parts. Keep up the good work.

  2. I know what it is like to feel you do not have the right fabric, but I am an avid recycler, so Wed. is where I head over to the various 2nd Hand Shops in town and thank goodness they all participate in the same day 50%off day...But you did get two projects done, so you are working towards your goal......

  9. Love the striped top, fabric shopping always helps me get out of a sewing stump, and it sounds like you need to do some shopping.
